Dear Families Planning to Adopt a Baby

You can adopt a baby

All of us at the Independent Adoption Center (IAC) welcome you and are pleased that you are considering an open adoption through IAC; the largest and the most trusted fully open adoption agency in the United States.

With over 25 years of experience and nearly 4,000 successful adoptions, IAC provides prospective adoptive families with an experienced, supportive, and caring environment – and professional counseling – as we assist and guide you through the process to adopt a baby and build the family you've always wanted.

Since its inception, IAC has been among the leading advocates of open adoption in the U.S. We assumed that position because it serves the best interests of birthparents, children, and adoptive parents. Research, by distinguished universities, leading nonprofit advocacy organizations, and others, continues to demonstrate that fully open adoptions are clearly the healthiest form of adoption.

In brief, in fully open adoptions, the birthparents and adopting parents select each other. Rather than outsiders such as social workers, doctors, or lawyers controlling the process, the adopting parents and the biological parents are the ones who have power over the critical decisions in their adoption.

In embracing "best practices" in fully open adoptions, IAC provides the most respectful and caring option for birthparents and adoptive parents to find each other. Your child will grow up knowing that their open adoption story is filled with love because you created it with their birthparents.

The joy of building a family is priceless. However, experience has taught us that the more you understand about the types and possible range of adoption-related expenses you may incur, the better equipped you will be to develop a realistic budget and appropriate plans. Once again, IAC and its staff will be there for you. IAC offers fees on a sliding scale (based on income) and provides a great deal of information on how-to afford your adoption by providing specific details about adoption-related fees and expenses as well as tax credits and other potential financial incentives.

We encourage you to look around our web site, to learn about IAC and open adoption, to request additional materials, and to ask lots of questions. When you would like to learn more, request an Adoption Information Packet.

Then, when you are ready to get started, sign up and attend a free Adoption Information Session (they are held monthly at branch offices around the country). Following that session, you will have enough information about open adoption and IAC to put yourself on IAC's Fast Track (Weekend Intensive Workshop) to adopt a baby.

We are eager to serve and eager to answer all of your questions so please feel free to contact us at (800) 877-6736, from 9am to 5pm (PST), Monday through Friday.
