Why Choose the Independent Adoption Center

adoptive familyExperience
The IAC is the most experienced open adoption agency in the country, with nearly 4,000 adoptions since 1982. We are the largest and oldest U.S. adoption agency facilitating fully open adoptions in 35 states, and we are fully licensed in the states of California, Indiana, Georgia, and North Carolina. The IAC also has authority to provide adoption services in New York, and is authorized to place children for adoption in Connecticut.

Most of our adoptive parents adopt within 6 to 18 months due to the Center's extraordinary national outreach and advertising programs. Birthparents prefer open adoption, making the IAC their obvious choice. Because the birthparents choose the family with whom they will place their child, the IAC has no age, religion, sexual orientation or marriage restrictions for prospective adoptive parents.

Support System
The IAC is a completely nonprofit organization whose main focus is on counseling and support. The IAC believes in having the best and most comprehensive counseling support available to birthparents and offers them lifetime support . The IAC will provide you with unlimited counseling for the year following placement and up to two counseling sessions per year until your child is 18 years old.

Financial
The Independent Adoption Center offers fees on a sliding scale which correlate to your income. The average fees range from $12,000–$16,000. The fees can be paid monthly or in one payment, whichever is most convenient for you, and with the Federal tax adoption credit your adoption could cost you as little as $4,000–$6,000. Other expenses that may be incurred include medical expenses, birthparents living expenses, legal costs for finalization and travel; on average this totals between $4,000 and $10,000. All costs are usually spread out over at least a 9–18 month period, depending on when the adoptive parent(s) are "chosen" and when the child is born.
