Thanks so much, Ann. We did soon speak with our agency and they put our concerns to rest. I’m not sure if it is because of our state’s specific rules, or not, but apparently it is ok for us to complete the home study in Dec, even though our original study was completed in Nov. If I get any more specific information, I’ll leave another reply here in hopes of helping the next nervous person…

Hi Seth,The answer depends on the state where you live. Most states have a 30 day grace period to get your home study into compliance, but not all. I would be surprised, however, if your home study agency could not complete the update this month. Updates just require a visit with the social worker, who then writes up a brief summary. So happy I found this… It sounds like you probably know the answer to my question. We are close to a referral and our annual home study update is supposed to occur this month.

What happens if it doesn’t, and is instead completed next month? That’s it, we can’t adopt? OR what?
