Kathleen Schaefer & Scott CzadzeckPleasanton, CA
We are Kathleen and Scott from the San Francisco Bay Area. We deeply admire your courage as you consider open adoption. Kathleen was adopted herself so we bring a special understanding of adoption to this journey. We have so much love to give and cannot wait to be parents. Thank you for learning more about us. We hope to learn more about you and your dreams for your precious baby.
We met fifteen years ago in Seattle, Washington where Scott was working for a technology company and Kathleen was completing her Masters Degree in English. We fell in love, sensing early on that we would spend our lives together. In 1996 we relocated to California to pursue our careers and live closer to family. Two years later we were married in a beautiful ceremony at Christmas time. We have been happily married for eleven years. The Christmas season is still our favorite time of year and we look forward to creating magical holiday memories with our new baby. We love socializing with friends and family. Every year we host a 4th of July barbeque to bring everyone together. Kathleen likes to cook and experiment with new recipes. She is an avid reader and enjoys scrapbooking, gardening, yoga and Pilates. Scott is a movie and science fiction buff. He was in a band in his youth and still dabbles in music. We like to curl up with our cat and watch movies together. We also love trips to the ocean and baseball games in the summer. Kathleen cannot wait to share her love of books with our child. Scott is excited to watch his favorite childhood movies with our little one.

Kathleen is my best friend and the love of my life. She is gentle, intelligent, funny and nurturing. Her warmth and sweet-natured personality will provide such comfort to a child. When we visit her brother’s family, Kathleen spends hours playing with her niece and nephews and reading books to them. It is obvious how much she enjoys children. Kathleen works as a grant writer for colleges and nonprofit organizations. Once our baby is born, she will be a stay-at- home mom. She is quite creative and I can imagine her making up stories to amuse and teach our child. She will be an amazing mother and I cannot wait to share the experience of parenthood with her.

Scott is an extremely caring and supportive husband. He is outgoing, smart, practical, generous and affectionate. Scott has a wonderful, goofy sense of humor. His laugh is infectious — he makes me laugh all the time. I can easily picture him rolling around on the floor with our child, making him or her giggle with delight. Scott is also a good listener and is very sensitive to the feelings of friends and loved ones. He takes parenting seriously and will provide strong and caring guidance to our child. Scott is a software developer, working at home on Fridays. I know that Scott will be a loving father and will always be actively involved in our child’s life.
Kathleen grew up in San Diego, California and Scott was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our families live just two hours away and we visit with them on a regular basis. Kathleen was adopted herself, as was her older brother Mark, so we have a special understanding of adoption. Kathleen will share this history with our child. We spend a lot of time with our niece and nephews. Scott’s parents live in the mountains in the California Gold Country and cannot wait to introduce their first grandchild to snow. Our friends and family are all excited to have a new child to love.
