Adam Gass & Kammie Rivera
Eagle Rock, CaWe want to thank you for taking a moment to read our profile in this difficult and emotional time. Hopefully we are able to convey to you in these few pages what kind of people we are and what kind of home we would provide for your child. We look forward to getting to know you and hopefully make this journey a little easier for you.
About our family
We met in 2004 and we were great friends right from the beginning. We have lived together for over seven years now with our beloved Beagles, Marlowe and Watson and our two cats, Buffy and Puff. A few years ago, Kammie's mom and her dog (Jaxx) moved in as well. So there will be a grandparent on hand for extra hugs as our child grows up. Our family is quick to laugh and can usually see the humor in even the toughest situations. We also care about our place in the world and are firm believers in treating people as you would want to be treated and are dedicated to passing on those beliefs to our child. We are committed to each other and excited about expanding our family, as we have a lot of love to share. If you want to learn more about our family, please take a look at our links and watch our video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16kR2zGqXEQ
Adam (by Kammie)
What I love about Adam... He is always there for me, someone I can count on. He is great in a crisis, as he has the amazing ability to stay cool and calm no matter what. He is kind, caring, smart and funny. He can always make me laugh, even when I didn't think I could. He also seems to know everything, which makes him a great partner at Trivial Pursuit! Adam loves playing board games and video games, and even though he denies it, he is quite competitive. He also loves Legos, and will be great at helping our child build whatever is in his or her imagination. He really can be a big kid! Adam also has a passion for cooking, and is always trying out new recipes and adding his own variations. He is looking forward to family time in the kitchen, and teaching our child to cook. He loves to read and enjoys most all genres, science fiction being his favorite. Adam works in the film industry, at a visual effects shop. He loves what he does because each new project keeps the job new and fresh.
Kammie (by Adam)
I've done well in finding a partner. Kammie is inherently kind and will always side with the "little guy." She'll always be ready with a helping hand and is a firm believer in social justice. She is passionate about politics and environmental concerns. Kammie loves games and books and looks forward to game nights and reading bedtime stories with our child. She enjoys cooking and movies and can't wait for dinner-and-a-movie nights with our little one. She enjoys spending time in the yard gardening and is looking forward to introducing our child to nature. Kammie is always looking for ways to better herself and increase her understanding of the world around her. She'll almost always be in the middle of some history book or will be learning a new piece of computer software. She enjoys photography and will spend an afternoon at Huntington Gardens or wandering around downtown Los Angeles looking for that perfect shot. She is currently working as a digital artist at the same visual effects shop as I do and loves the creativity it affords.
Our Neighborhood
We live in Los Angeles (where we both were born) in the neighborhood of Eagle Rock. This area of LA is a small pocket, almost small town like, with great parks, shops and restaurants. We are minutes away from Griffith Park, the LA Zoo, Hollywood, and Disneyland isn't too far away. We have had great fun with our nieces and nephews visiting these places. We also really enjoy the many museums and gardens in the area which gives us a chance to glimpse the beauty of art and nature. These are great places to explore and things to do with our child. We are also big sports fans, and you will find us at Dodger stadium often, although Adam is more of an Angels fan. We can't wait to introduce the thrill and magic of a baseball game to our little one! We also love basketball, especially the Lakers and are so ready to put up a hoop in the backyard and go play as a family.
