Eric & Bill's Adoption Story

Eva's birthmother, Annette, first contacted us in March of 2006, when she was four months pregnant. After countless emails we had our first face-to-face meeting in early July, and we matched with Annette shortly after. In the last seven weeks of Annette's pregnancy, we were both able to accompany her to regular doctor appointments and began preparing for the birth of our child. Eva was born on August 22nd, 2006 and went home with us from the hospital two days later. We continue to have strong relationship with Annette.

We live in the same city as Annette so we have had the opportunity to get to know each other's friends and families. This bond continues to grow stronger and stronger through email, phone and in-person communication. We have become big advocates of open adoption, referring a number of our friends to the IAC and we speak at groups about the appeal of open adoption.
