29 May 2007 – Pleasant Hill, CA. Honesty is the best policy – especially when it comes to building a family. For 25 years, the Independent Adoption Center has been practicing that truism, building happy, healthy families one adoption at a time. Marking that milestone, the nationally recognized nonprofit education and counseling agency has launched an upgraded website at www.adoptionhelp.org and will help introduce it to the general public at a national series of "Family Picnics" June 2–23, from California to North Carolina; from Georgia to Indiana.

"Our website is our mission – adoptionhelp.org," said Ann Wrixon, Executive Director of the Independent Adoption Center. "The vast majority of families looking to adopt go online to find information today. Our new improved website will help build happy families, and continue to be a resource for the press and public about open adoption."

A leader in open adoption, Independent Adoption Center (IAC) is nationally recognized as a leader in the field having facilitated over 4,000 successful adoptions in 35 states. Headquartered in the Northern California town of Pleasant Hill, IAC has southern California offices in Los Angeles, and also operates centers in Indiana, North Carolina and Georgia.

"Domestic adoptions are on the rise in the United States," notes Wrixon, herself the mother of an adopted child. "In fact, placements have increased by 8% in the last five years."

The new www.adoptionhelp.org website was re-designed and reconfigured by Cybersense. A fresh clean design and great navigation will make it easy for visitors to find the information they are searching for.

"Our goal was to help drive as many potential adoptive parents and birthparents to IAC's website as possible that are seeking information on open adoption," said Rob Blackburn, website developer. "we feel IAC’Äôs new website will make that happen."

Founded in 1982, IAC has successfully facilitated open adoptions in 35 states and is licensed in the states of California, Indiana, Georgia and North Carolina. As a nonprofit organization, the IAC's mission is to create open adoptions: that is, a completely voluntary adoption where birth parents select the family they want to adopt their child. It is a viable and accessible alternative to untimely pregnancy throughout the United States.
