Adoptive Parents Eric and Bill of San Francisco find family through the Independent Adoption Center

9 April 2007 – Pleasant Hill, CA. Eric and Bill of San Francisco know all about being open. So, when it came time for them to adopt, an "open adoption" through the Independent Adoption Center (IAC) was the obvious choice.

"Annette, the mother of our daughter, continues to have a close relationship with us," says Eric. "Since we live in the same city, we’ve all had the opportunity to get to know each other’s friends and family. This bond continues to grow stronger and stronger through email, phone calls, and visits."

Eric and Bill facilitated their open adoption through IAC (www.adoptionhelp.org ), the nationally recognized leader in open adoption headquartered in the East Bay town of Pleasant Hill. They were first
contacted by four-month pregnant birthmother Annette in March 2006. After countless emails, the couple had their first face-to-face meeting with Annette in early July and were matched shortly after that. Eric and Bill accompanied Annette to regular doctor appointments and began preparing for
the birth of their baby girl. Eva was born on August 22, 2006 and went home with the couple two days later.

"Eric and Bill have become big advocates of open adoption," said Sharon Fitzgerald, Advertising and Marketing Director for IAC. “They have referred a number of their friends to the center and continue to speak to groups about the appeal of open adoption."
