For intended adoptive families can you either password protect your family page or use aliases to protect your privacy?
Unfortunately, if we required passwords to view our family pages it would put our prospective adoptive families at a great disadvantage. The only way families find matches is if they are viewed by large numbers of potential birthparents. The only way to do that is to allow everyone complete access to the profiles so that the potential birthparents can see it as well.
We do not allow families to use aliases because we are committed to open adoption. Birthparents need to know that they can trust that people are who they say they are. In more than 4,000 adoptions, we have never had a problem with people using their full names.
