Does IAC do closed adoptions?

The Independent Adoption Center does not do closed adoptions. The reason for this policy is that all of the research on adoption shows that open adoption has the best outcomes for the child, the adoptive parents and the birthparents.

For the adopted child, open adoption provides answers to questions like, "Who do I look like?" and, "Why was I given up?", and leads to a more positive sense of self worth and self-esteem.

For the adoptive parent, it is reassuring to know the medical history of your child. Knowing who the birthparents are helps prevent any unfounded fears about what their motivations may be.
