Are the birth parent expenses ever more than 3000? How often does a birth mom not have medical insurance? If an adoption falls through because the birthmom changes her mind, what happens to the money already paid?
Seventy percent of birthmothers have expenses that are $3,000 or lower. The other 30% have expenses that are higher than $3,000. It rarely to almost never happens that a birthmother does not have private insurance or is not eligible for the medicaid program in her state.
At the IAC, you only pay your fees to the IAC once until there is a permanent placement in your home. If a birthmother changes her mind you do not pay any more fees to the IAC. Any birthmother expenses, however, would not be reimbursed.
